DEBATING MATTERS ISRAEL LAUNCHED IN 2015 In May 2015, Debating Matters brought 6 Israeli schools and guests from a range of communities to Tel Aviv University’s Capsule Building to debate key moral, scientific and global issues in English. Using our unique ‘substance over style’ format for the first time in the region, students took tough questions from adult judges and from an audience of their peers. As someone who has spoken to us about the initiative, been involved, or who might like to be involved in future, below is an overview of this year’s launch and showcase. My students and I had an unforgettable experience. We have learnt a great deal and the students were truly ecstatic. They keep on talking about yesterday with starry eyes ….
