Lord Bew, Chairman of The Anglo-Israel Association hosted a talk followed by lunch  in the Cholmondeley Room, House of Lords on Monday 31st October 2016 at 12.30 pm with Yuval Noah Harari, Historian and author of the international bestseller Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind. Harari spoke on“Why twenty-first-century politics lacks vision”

Twentieth-century politics was a battleground between grand visions for the future of humankind. Communists,

fascists and liberals all wanted to destroy the old world and build a new one in its stead. In contrast, twenty-first-century politics lacks any clear visions for the future of humankind. This is doubly surprising given the revolutionary potential of new technologies such as bioengineering and artificial intelligence, and the existential dilemmas they pose humankind. Why does the twenty-first century seem to combine revolutionary technology with narrow-minded politics?

Professor Harari’s new book is out now: Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow
